Richard Franklin Thomas Pryor, was born on December 1, 1940 (died on December 10, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer. Pryor grew up in his grandmother's brothel, and after the age of 10 was raised by his grandmother. He had a tough childhood, raised as a son of a prostitute he was sexually abused and was beaten frequently by his grandmother. Despite the difficulties of his personal life Pryor became one of the most influential comedians of the last 50 years. His examinations of racism and contemporary issues accompanied by his story telling style established his name. As consequence of his success he won two "American Academy of Humor" awards, five "Grammy Awards" and one "Emmy Award".
