Edward John "Eddie" Izzard was born on February 7, 1962 in Aden, Yemen. He is an English stand-up comedian and actor. A year after his birth he moved with his parents and his brother to Northern Ireland, after few years they Went to Skewen in South Wales where his mother died when Izzard was six. After his mother death, he attended boarding schools such as St John's School of Porthcawl, St Bede's Preparatory School, and Eastbourne College.
His comedy career started when he was at the University of Sheffield, there with his student friend and partner Rob Ballard started performing. He left the university and the accounting degree and started comedy in the streets. The breakthrough point in his career was his spot on the "Fry and Laury" produced AIDS benefit Hysteria 3. The result of his work was the British Comedy Awards in 1993 (for "Live at the Ambassadors"). In US, the public became aware of Izzard after HBO in 1999 shown his show "Dress to Kill" which was actually produced one year before in San Francisco. For his talent and publicity in the US he earned to Emmy Awards in 2000 for performance and writing.
